Uwharrie National Forest Opening Additional Campgrounds (1 Viewer)

Troy, NC, June 12, 2020 - On June 16, 2020, Uwharrie National Forest is expected to open Arrowhead Campground, Badin Lake Campground, Canebrake Horse Camp, Uwharrie Hunt Camp, West Morris Mt. Campground, and Yates Place Camp.

Also expected to open on June 16 are the vault toilets at Wood Run Bike Trailhead/ Hunt Camp, Holt's Picnic Area, Dutch John Trailhead, and Art Lilley Trailhead.

Flintlock Valley Shooting Range and King's Mt. Point Day Use Area are expected to open on June 20.

Canebrake Overflow and Badin Horse Camp opened for dispersed camping and day use parking and Badin Lake OHV Trail Complex opened on June 1.

Badin Lake Group Camp will remain closed until the Conservation Corps North Carolina crew has completed trail work in late August.

The Forest Service is reopening sites in phases using a site-by-site approach, including assessment of facility cleanliness, maintenance status, and health and safety. The agency is committed to maximizing public access while ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, partners, and volunteers. We are working closely with our state and local partners to determine the best path forward to safely reopening sites.
