Alternator is whining and mechanic said its alternator bearings the question is Do I need to replace the alternator even though mechanic said bearing could solve the issue or just replace the bearings?

Thanks.

Alternator failures aren't terribly common around here, and seem to go north of 150K. Mine failed at over 160K. However labor's gonna be the same either way if you're not doing it yourself. I'd just slap another one (reman'd OEM) in and call it good. Whatever contamination is causing your bearing to fail "might" mean your alternator itself isn't on the "live forever" list like some on here...

Lots of options on alternator. Some have had good luck with oem reman, others not so much. If you're looking to add lots of accessories check the threads for what others have done to put higher capacity units in. Still others have stayed with a good reman from the local auto parts store so if problems it's easy too go get it replaced. Personally this is what I did with no problem so far but had only been a few months. Not that hard to change one, getting the electrical connectors loose was much harder than taking it out. Good threads on mud or google it for tips on how to change. Good luck no matter which route you go.
