We were lucky and got a pretty fat refund...being on long term disability for half the year helped keep our taxable income low.

Next year won't be the same (or so I hope ;)).

I got a federal refund, but since I bought the 80 out of state, I had to pay state taxes on it, I haven't sent the check yet though...

State refunds are likely to be delayed this year they said if the average refund took 4-8 weeks last year it will be 8-16 this year.

All the better reason to owe at the end of the year. The taxes are all the same in the end. You might as well have and use your money. Its not like the Govt pays you interest on it. But you bet your Arse if you owe the IRS they will be charging you interest.

Just a thought.

thats alright, Im gonna tell em the same about my payment :D

gotta wait and make sure theres enough funds in the bank, just like them.

I owe every year, and usually pay a small fine for that priveledge. This year may be interesting though, as my income was next to nothing the whole year....not looking forward to all the paperwork, but interested to see if I zero out this year. Did I mention how much I despise giving half my income away for the priveledge of living here? Feels a lot like an immigrant restauranteur in new york in the early 1900's paying the mafia for "protection".

Hmm, I think I have done over a 100 returns so far this year, heh!!

Did mine early enough that my small NC refund actually got paid.

One HUGE hint is to file electronically, and use direct deposit, it does seem to speed up the refund by a HUGE factor! (Even NC!)
