Hi Everyone,

Thought i would share my thoughts after upgrading the front and rear swaybar from Whiteline (Whiteline BTK016) from Australia, that i ordered from eBay.

As we all know in stock form the LX is a comfort oriented truck, though off-road capable its on-road handling characteristics is not as good as some of us would like, with plenty of body roll through corners. My LX is an 08 and is daily driven as and plenty of roadtrips with family. I am currently running on P-Rated 285/70/17 Yokohama Geolandar G015 AT tires with a 'mild' sensor lift.

After researching and asking around from a few friends i ordered the Whiteline BTK016 medium rated front and rear swaybar kit, with bushings and lateral locks for the rear (see pic). Installation was done at a suspension specialist with less than one hour labor.

Initial impression:
Its a night and day difference in terms of cornering ability. The car is much more flat through corners and feels safer. On the highway/freeway its more stable, i also feel there's a slight braking improvement.

The downside:
As with any handling upgrades, there will be compromises. The LX is buttery smooth on the road and is able to absorb minor road imperfections, potholes and washboard surfaces. After the install of the swaybars these imperfections are slightly more evident.

The verdict:
Like me, if you do a lot of road trips and prefer to have better handling and more stability, the minor comfort loss will not bother you at all. Yes it's worth it and plus you can switch to comfort mode when needed. If you want to retain the AHC plushness and comfort, do not buy these. Is it that bad? No its not, still bearable, road imperfections are slightly more evident.

Hope this helps for anyone considering purchasing sway bars for their LX570 or AHC fitted 200 series - Land Cruisers.

These + nice quick disconnects could really be a nice upgrade for us heavier set up rigs. Thank for posting about these. Added to my LONG LONG LONG list of "things to add when the time is right"

Yes, definitely a nice upgrade for heavier set up, lifted rigs. No worries. It took me a while before i decided to make the purchase. For me the better handling aspect provides more safety during emergency maneuvers and better drivability.

I see this rear sway bar as being a great upgrade for those that wheel hard and still have ahc.

This fatter rear sway bar. No front sway bar and still have the ability to go into S mode would check all my boxes as far as stability and articulation.

Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome. I agree, later on I'm going to try different setups, with stock front swaybars and no front swaybars and see what feels better.

I appreciate your review! Is there a reason you went with the Whiteline over Dobinson’s or OME?

The Land Cruiser crowd is held hostage by the KDSS. It’s unfortunate because the best solution at hand is to increase the coil spring rate for less body roll, but that isn’t the primary function of coils springs in our suspensions.

No problem.

A friend with an LX recommended these. I've browsed around as well, not many companies make aftermarket sway bars for the LX. I don't think Dobinson and OME makes sway bars for the LX? It came down to Whiteline and Superpro, both Australian brand if I'm not mistaken. Superpro sway bars were to large, Extra Heavy Duty is what they're called on the website, while Whiteline sells Medium and Heavy Duty sway bars.

For comparison:

Stock LX:
Front Sway bar: 30mm
Rear Sway bar: 28mm

Whiteline - Medium
Front Sway bar: 33mm
Rear Sway bar: 30mm

Whiteline Heavy Duty
Front Sway bar 38mm
Rear Sway bar 33mm

SuperPro Extra Heavy Duty
Front Sway bar 39mm
Rear Sway bar 33mm
