Has anyone bothered to update the navigation on their Premium or Luxury models? I'm sure some the early GX software is has some pretty out dated mapping.
If so, is there an option other than the dealer for the CD or the ability to upload the software?
Any other tips/tricks that can up updated also on these systems? Wondering if anyone has ever done a hack for them.

Dealer is pretty much it for 10-13 but there are firmware fixes as well on the second link below aside from NAV

I've seen some in Eurasian markets upgrade via paid hard disk swaps but have never seen this option in NA market

Nav is updated via the Firewire 800 port near accelerator pedal

Well considering I don't have any of the issues you listed in Club Lexus on my display, I guess I'll just keep using my phone's Google Maps.
Although I have had some discrepancies for routing between my phone and the GX nav. My Google maps has 99.9% always been right, GX nav maybe 80%. But again that may be because of it being old data/maps.

You can see the current map version you have in this location:

I got mine updated in early '17 so it has '16 maps so it says version 16.1

I'll have to look at mine and see what revision I'm at when I get in it later this morning.
What did that upgrade cost you? Per your post above, I assume even with a FIrewire cable and CD, one couldn't do it themselves.
And I imagine if anybody could do it themselves, it would be you.

Yeah... they are encrypted maps IIRC and take special issued keys to unlock and load into vehicle.

I've got an '07 G35x that has hard drive based maps as well and similarly locked down.

Not sure what they would charge today... back in 2017 I paid $169 for the maps and $70 labor
