I'm mostly posting this to make sure I get under the truck and get this done... This post is my promise to get started!
Saturday morning (June 9) I am going to be pulling the split case from the HZJ44 to get it ready to be shipped to Georg for an Over/Under gear set that requires the case to be machined a bit for clearance. I'd like to say this is a mod, but since I dropped my fluid on the freeway due to a bad output seal, I'm sure the bearings are bad and I need a rebuild anyway.
I digress... Anyone that wants to swing by is welcome to just chat, keep company, turn a wrench, work on your own project, or just friendship in general.
The address is posted the the last wrench day post in the private forum. PM me if you want to come and are not in the private forum yet. The address is the Arden Dr. one and not @leucadiacruiser 's on Glaucus.
Soooooo.... Ran into a few snags today with the transfer so it looks like instead of out patient surgery, I need to pull the whole tranny and check the condition of both... Bad news ui that I need to take down the crossmember for the rear control arms to do the job... More news to come...
Instead, I used today to retorque all of the bolts from the suspension install on the 100 and installed the Slee front skid plate I traded my stock ones for. I also finally drilled out a broken bolt in my 2F block in my FJ60 and retapped it for an M8. Long story but getting it out was a nightmare. I will be reinstalling the side cover, distributor, and oil filter before we hook up the spark plugs again, check the timing, and get her back on the road!
@sd60 came by with coffee, great conversation, and one of the most pristine examples of a true survivor FJ60 I have every seen not in a museum.
So, it looks like there will be an unofficial wrench day part IV coming soon....
thanks for hosting @BreckenridgeCruiser. pretty jealous of your herd. next time maybe i'll help you rather than just drinking coffee and admiring your toys while you work. maybe.
@sd60 company is always welcome! Only problem with a herd is that you have to feed them! Let me know if you decide to check out that 40 you were thinking about!
