I am in the process of replacing my battery cables and found this. It is a rubber cap with a black w/yellow stripe wire going into it. Has a small brown connector inside the cap. It comes from under my air filter housing. Anyone know what it is and where it goes? Thanks

It looks like it goes around the oil pressure sending unit below the oil filter.

There are boots like that on the starter and the distributor as well but that one does not fit those devices.

Alternator?

Have one that looks like that on the back of mine

Would it stand to reason that if I had an after market Oil PSI display that this wasn't being used anymore? This is the first truck that I have tried to play around with so I was being pretty careful and don't remember knocking it out of place.

Thanks.

Do you have a mechanical oil pressure gauge? That looks like the stock wiring that went to the oil pressure sending unit but if you have an aftermarket one there now then that would make sense. They just left the the old wiring hanging there.
