So I have an ultra gauge in the new cruiser I picked up but the coolant temp will read 180 degrees if it’s just sitting there and then it will drop to 80degrees and while driving it reports 56 to 80 degree coolant temps. Is it a bad coolant sensor? because the factor gauge reads normal the hole time. And yes it’s in Fahrenheit lol

Thought would be my first guess. As you probably already know, the gauge in the dash has its own independent sensor. The ECM sensor is what the Ultragauge reads from.

How does the truck run when the temp reads low?

Runs fine I don’t notice any issues except that the gauge jumps around and reads low
