I’m starting to look into lift kits for our family GX. My wife daily’s this truck and it will never be “wheeled”. So my question is, do I really need to cough up the $600 for uca’s? I know they help with the alignment issue but is it a deal breaker? I’m looking into the toytec Aluma Kit. Link below. Thank you.

Not at all. I drove and wheeled my old Tacoma for years with stock UCAs and a mild lift. They are helpful with the overall suspension geometry and for articulation, but certainly not a deal breaker.

Your post begs the question why bother to lift it at all, but if you want to, then new coilovers and springs/shocks in the back will suffice for a street truck. If you stay under 2.5" of lift then they should be able to align it within spec.

2' Dobinsons lift here, on OEM UCAs and I have about 2.75* of positive caster. It's nearly maxed out while keeping the toe and camber where needed. Anything over 2" and I'd suggest UCAs.

It comes down to how much lift you're going to do. Much over 1.5" to 2.0", maybe. less then that, you don't need UCA's, you'll be fine.
Also, if you should lift it much more than 3.0", you might think about a diff drop kit also.

It will be a 2-2.5 inch lift we are shooting for. We will do a diff drop kit either way. Thanks

A 2" will eliminate the need for UCAs, but it will handle better with.

at 2.5" you won't get the proper alignment # on your caster, and the handling will suffer (darty steering, etc)

a diff drop at 2" is totally unnecessary

i have a couple of great options in the MRR or Slinky line for 460's if you've got interest. Shoot me an email and we'll getcha fixed up. kyle@treatyoakoffroad.com
