Well at first I thought I would sum up the the whole event with ONE WORD!!!.....IH8MUD!!!!
But it got better!!...MUCH BETTER!!!!
Saturday (1-24-09) as you can see, started off cold, wet and rainy! And it had been raining all day on Friday too! So needless to say the trails were pretty sloppy!!!
Amy and I decided to go on the Sliplock Gulch trail rated 3 with 3+ to 4+ Optional Obstacles! Add a little water and mud into the mix and the ratings go off the chart!
Here's a pic of our group just before we pulled out. Our trail leaders name was Dale and that's his yellow custom 4 seater CJ5!
As you can see there were a lot of rigs at this event (I believe they said about 300 We had 17 rigs in group.
Okay here's where it gets muddy....right at the start!
Believe it or not the first person to break was our trail leader! His front drive shaft U joint gave way and his tranny line popped off before we even got to the trail!
He scored a spared drive shaft from someone and we were on our way in no time!
First obstacle was easy!
Even stockers made it.
The second waterfall was a much different story!!!
Only 5 tried it and only 4 made it!
Dale, our leader, really struggle but after numerours tries he finally made it.
Then it was my turn!
Wooo Hoooo!!!! I made it!
We were told that the 2nd water fall would be the hardest obstacle there and it was!
But it was far from over!
I was thankful for my exo cage on this one!
Carnage on my cage but none to the body!
Then our last big obstacle....a steep decent into a VERY narrow rock ravine!
I'm basically rock crawling on my rims...
Well we all made it out alive and other than Dale's breakage at the begining of the trail no one else broke anything!
Dale let me borrow a little squirt of air (lost a little in my back tire on the last obstacle) and then we all headed back!
They had a great facility, big steel building with heat and bathrooms!
Really good catered food!
After grub it was raffle time!!!
What a great time we had!!!
I will definately go next year and I hope some of you will go too!
Here's a link to all my pics.
