Whoever's been doing the rain dance better knock it off! My kids were looking forward to swimming in the Summer heat, not hiding out in the tent playing solitaire! This year has been totally Fubar as far as the weather goes.

Any chance there's still a camp spot available? Been thinking about this for a while. Sounds like a fun time.:steer:
There's still a couple of things in the way but I'm working on them and would hope to head out after work Fri.

No spots available but you can always sleep with Ty in his 80. He has extra room now that he doesn't have Miley. Be careful, he likes to spoon!

Bring it on Russ! :D:clap:

Looks like the weekend should be clear.

I most likely won't roll in until Sat. evening without my boys. They go back the X on Saturday.

Russ- Lots-o-room there. Its like a mini sourdough.

Awesome. I must get my DS mirror 'fixed' or I might have to beg to drive Ernie(handbrakes rig) up. No brush to go through is there?:steer:
How about directions? I'll probably be up around sunset. :bang:

These are my sorta crappy directions:
From your direction pass Cave Junction, and before you get to selma take a left on 8 Dollar Rd./NF2401 (there is decent sign for the turn). Mile or 2 down the road take right going up hill onto NF016. It is easy turn to miss and not marked well from what I remember. You know you missed it if you go over a bridge. Turn around and it is real close.

Follow NF016 around the mountain to the backside.

Google maps "8 dollar mt, OR"

It is just a rough bumpy fireroad, but could have some clearance issue in a car.

And the mistakes I made last year finding the place....Bridge is too far like he said, fireroad isn't really marked at all from what I remember, and once you hit the fireroad stay on the main road. Eventually it will dead end right next to camp at a river crossing. There are a couple camps before that but the camp we went to can easily be seen from the fireroad and is about 100 yards from the dead end. Probably took a good 15-20 minutes to get all the way back to the camp once you hit the fireroad, really bumpy with mud and gardens of rock. Wouldn't want to take a car in there.

Anyone wanna have a winch fest and pull that Bronco back up the bank?
Also has anyone been up the other side of the river. If I remember right there are a couple big gravel bars over there that would be camp-able and might be neat to explore.

the camp is across the river?

Not the one I was planning, but Im pretty there is camping on the other side. I think G and Travis have. You used to be able to do the river crossing, and I believe you can come in from the otherside of the mt. The campsite we are at is close to where the Illinois and Deer ck meet.

River Crossing is legal again, but water is prolly a little high for that. Russ if you want to hitme up I'll be heading in on Friday evening also. There is a high school graduation I am going to for Nyk starts at 7:30 and I'll leave town after that is over.
