I don't think Butch ever made more than the one prototype on his spare...no matter, this is the same method all wheel widening specialists use and the price is very fair for 5 wheels...tires are a bonus. GLWS

thanks Garth, I was't sure if he did or not. Someone made a fine set of rims though.

Jason- I didn't know the pics stopped working, odd. I updated the first post so you can see them. I will have to measure the width, not sure on that.

Definitely wider than stock 5.5" and look wider than my 7"...I'd guess at least 8" if not 10".

I can't get exact since the tires are on but eyeballing it they are 9.5" wide

Better pics added above. I am throwing in a set of older hub caps too. Also going to ebay.

TTT - just "tire" kickers so far. it would be impossible to duplicate this setup for less.

5 OEM Toyota disk brake rims ($$$$) and labor to cut out the centers of the 10 rims and weld in (correctly and straight) the Toyota disk centers.

you don't use disc centers. you use drum centers. grind the heads off the rivets and punch them out and the centers are ready to go. also, can often be found for free, along with the chevy rims. just costs a lot of time to get them lined up correctly and a little welding wire. ;)

i had all the stuff to do it years ago, but didn't want to go through the hassle of building up a jig to make sure that i got the centers welded in correctly, so, iirc, i sent all my centers to butch

I have a lone drum rim (1971) and thought of "converting" it to a disc rim (for my own use) by a similar process to what you are suggesting (weld around the edges of the "window" then grind/punch the rivets and weld the holes shut). Problem is, even the "window" part of the rim sticks out far enough that it tickles the caliper on the front and outright locks up the drum on the rear of my '82 FJ40. Perhaps this works fine for the earlier 40s with the more rounded shoulder drums ... and sure, you can grind the caliper for clearance or work on the "windows" too ... Or you could buy the rims in this thread and save yourself the agg ...
