I have a fzj70 and if I can recall reading on a forum. That the front leaf springs can be inverted (turned around) to push the axles forward a few inches.

Is there anyone that can confirm this for me and what are the side effects of doing so if any or if it is possible to do so at all.

I plan on doing a lift and eventually getting bigger tires but my current tires basically rub already.

Thanks,
Dan

Hello,

A far simpler way to achieve this is moving the front axle forward 25 to 30 mm by drilling a hole in its support mounts. No need to invert the leaf springs and fiddle with the steering linkage.

This will allow you to mount 35 in. tires.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. @JuanJ I'm lifting by extending the shackles. So the original springs will still be on van. Will this method of moving axle 30mm forward still help in this case to mount up to 35s?

Hello,

Moving the front axle 25 to 30 mm forward is a common method for mounting 35 in. tires.

Extended shackles are a good choice for lifting and bigger tires.

Please let us know about your results.
