SILVER Star
All-
I just returned from Houston with my 2003 LX470 that I used to tow a boat for search and rescue missions after Hurricane Harvey. I was in deep water with the truck, some water intrusion into the cab, but it performed flawlessly while in Houston. Upon my return to Dallas, I let the truck sit overnight (still connected to the boat trailer) and upon returning the next morning, I could not get the truck to start.
Here are the issues:
1) turn key to position 1; all lights come on, a/c will work, windows go up and down, radio works, basically everything is normal
2) turn key to start; speedo/tach lights turn off, radio/infosystem turns off, a/c turns off, etc, but there is ZERO noise from the engine compartment; can't hear the solenoid, can't hear the starter, no clicks, nothing at all.
3) trailer wiring was spliced back together after being damaged during the storm and wires were not replaced in the correct order, causing failure of the lights on the boat trailer, failure of the front turn signal lights, and failure of the speedometer to function at all--tachometer and all other gauges worked, but not the speedo (maybe the odometer as well), or the information center functions that depend on speedometer/odometer to work. I drove home with CEL, VSC OFF, VSC TRAC lights illuminated.
What I have done so far:
1) inspected all fuses; replaced 2 fuses that were visibly blown including one for the instrument cluster.
2) replaced battery
3) tapped on starter relay while helper turned key
4) allowed everything to dry
5) observed headlights when key is turned--they do not dim at all
What I have identified as possible issues:
1) connections to the battery and body
2) connections to the starter
3) fusible link block
4) neutral safety switch malfunction
5) starter solenoid malfunction
6) starter relay failure
I AM NOT an electrical genius by any stretch, but I am a guy who desperately needs to get this truck sorted out and back on the road.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
