Nope. Just a supercharger with methanol injection. :crybaby:

I have a SC and if I was gonna take the leap now, Id go with TURBO from witsend its top o the line. hes using top notch parts and has serious pro's guiding him.

LS 6.2 with a 6 speed would be insane!

With my 1994 and living in Cali...no turbo for me or that would be my direction. I'll continue to baby my 1fz-FE, but when it goes, a LS3 or LT1 is going in! Just need to figure out who's gonna swap it for me...I don't posses the skills :frown:

LS3 has 260ftlb of torque at 800 RPM!:eek::steer:

Maybe @NLXTACY will develop a LS3 swap kit once he's done fiddling with turbos, dash lights, and overheating issues...:hmm:

Now that would be crazy sick!!!! BTW your 1fz will never die especially at your rate!

Ive been looking into this for months
80 series is nearing the vintage where the Chevy crate swap will be a common option...may as well be the go-to dude for all parts related.

FWIW
I've had the supercharger in for over two years, and am very happy with performance on and off road. When rolling with my 80 series brothers, it is immediately obvious that the supercharger provides power across the spectrum from crawling to highway-with no extra maintenance issues at all. It was easy to install, is designed for the 80 and the only issue is premium gas.
I find I have been getting better mileage because of the lower rpms I need to run at on grade. From SF to Tahoe I can now cruise at 65-70 without the transmission having seizures.
If you can find one, I think it's an easy decision.

FWIW my recently acquired 97 turbo is a Safari setup that’s been on the truck since new. I don’t have any wheeling experience with it yet, but the turbo system works beautifully, feels like it was made at the factory this way. Made to produce torque down low with a very flat curve. I’m impressed give my other turbo experiences. I’ve had turbos, supercharged cars big V8s and pretty much everything else. This one really impresses me.

Also I have a Corvette with the LS1 and they are great engines. Great torque and power. The vette is definitely faster than the turbo 80 but it ain’t far behind!

Did that truck come out of Colorado?

Does your truck have a torque converter? Stall speed is higher than that. lol.

Hey, better to have and not need and need but not have! With lower gear and such low end torque even the 80 probably can crawl up thing at 1000RPM. At 1000RPM the LS3 has about 300FTLB and shoot straight to 400ftlb before 2000RPM, those are essential for such a heave beast such as an 80. No tubo lag and such.......AND if you really want to tinker there are MANY turbo/SC LS3 that crank out insane numbers. I just want to be able pass people on the grapevine without stress on 37s and get 20MPG cruising, forget smelly diesel.

The Magnuson supercharger kit uses a m90 supercharger. M90 compressors were used on a ton of oem supercharged vehicles. If u have some fab skills, adapting a m90 from Buick regal or mid 90s jag should not cost much. Could probably fab it up in a weekend or two. They pop up on Craigslist and ebay often, and u can buy reman units too.

I’ll consider the turbo kit once it’s had time to marinate. I want the same reliability and durability as the current factory NA setup. I don’t want to introduce additional heat in the engine bay without anecdotal proof (likely best we can hope for) that there is ample cooling given the additional energy it’s packing under hood. I didn’t buy the $6k new in box TRD whatever unit due to heat even for my mall crawler 80.

Then even with the additional power, I’d want some type of “Brembo” type braking upgrade option. But then I may have a hard time running my fav steel wheels given additional clearance required.

So for me it’s not a simple either or binary; rather, an interesting conundrum. That’s what makes all this a fun game!
