Anyone has the device to properly tune this thing.. Also connects to my am/fm radio

You need an SWR meter for CB. Radio Snack sells one for a couple of bucks or you could borrow mine. It goes inline between the radio and antenna and you adjust the antenna for minimum SWR.

Not going to work properly if you connect it to AM/FM.

You may also consider scrapping the CB and getting a 2 meter ham radio. The clarity and distance blows CB out of the ballpark. No comparison.

Many of the GCLC folks are running ham radios now. I have both, but stay away from the CB.

Thanks Jon, yeah my kids gave me the set up so it's going on the truck, as far as the am/fm, it came with the splitters so the antenna can be used for both..

If it's hooked up with the splitters you're not going to be able to tune it to get a reasonable SWR. So you'll be able to hear but other's won't hear you unless you're close. An antenna has a basic design to be used with an 18' cable. Once you change that significantly, you won't be able to tune it properly.

SWR equates to transmission efficiency. Best to keep all radios separate. My truck looks a bit like a porcupine (as my daughter would say) with 3 antennae, but they all work exceedingly well.

I'm also not sure how your head unit will like getting 5 watts of transmit power into the antenna port when it's not designed for that.

So this is no good

Reason I wanted to do this is because I wanted to get rid of the stock antenna for the radio since it gets in the way of the snorkel

Didn't realize you were using an active product. When you said "splitter" I thought you meant a cable pigtail.

I read up on this on the Firestik website. As long as you follow directions and tune the antenna before installing the splitter, you should be OK. You'll need an SWR meter for sure with this install. Still don't know how efficient this will be, but CB pretty much sucks anyway ;)

Thanks Jon.. I'll install it fir now and get a ham fir Christmas lol

Installed.. Gotta wait for a swr meter since no store in my area had one, so yes I gotta take it apart again when it gets tuned
