Tundra tailgate

My tailgate rattled for a while. I got a tonneau and didn't hear it anymore. When I took the truck in for the rear bumper rusting (common issue and quickly fixed) I mentioned the rattle. We took the tonneau off and it was gone.

The plastic clip that rattles had apparently broken. Last week the tailgate stopped opening. Loading 7 sheets of 3/4 birch was fun.

Here I sit at the dealership waiting for them to replace the plastic clip. They were not at all surprised. Another common issue. Just handed me the keys. Right on time.

If it wasn't a lease I'd be a lot more concerned.

I just saw that my rear bumper lasted about 10 months before it started to rust again.

Guess I'll have to make another appointment.

Is this what domestic truck ownership is like?

They rust mostly on the sides behind the wheels.

The other 2nd gen Tundra here at school broke the tailgate latch yesterday.
