Any Tundra guys out there??

I have a rear 03 or 04 (not sure exactly) Tundra LSD rear end in my cruiser. I thought I read somewhere (cant find it of course) that the shafts were interchangable? Is this true? Do you know what years are interchangable?

The pumpkin is centered so this would make sense. Then I would only have carry one spare.

Interchangeable between sides or other vehicles? If sides, yes they are interchangeable. All 1Gen-Tundras have the same width rear end. The only difference in axle shafts is the ABS gear pressed onto the axle shaft for the ABS equipped rigs.

I've also heard the tundra rear width is the same width as the T100's.

Don't know if Tundra's are the same but.............
on Tacoma's the axle shaft is physically different, not just a abs gear on the shaft. They have a taller shoulder on the flange end.

The tundras are the same. I snapped an axle shaft on my non-ABS rig and purchased an axle shaft from an ABS rig. Exactly the same. Except the ABS gear.

Thanks for the info guys. Very much appreciated.

Another question - any recommendations on where to get all the ebrake cables for this rear axle?

The axle had all of them missing and I would like to get it hooked again.

Have you tried Tap Recycling (or another wrecking yard)? Some people may not like them but, I've had good experiences with them and at reasonable prices. If you need the part numbers, I should be able to get those for you if you end up going to the dealer.

This is a tad off topic, but how do the Tundra rear axles hold up. I have a T100, and the spring perch has fatigue cracked at the tube. I know I can weld it up and such, but I'm wondering if a Tundra rear end would be a better replacement. I have heard of other T100 axles assemblies doing this, but not the Tundra.

Can anyone confirm if it is the same size as a T100 housing. Also is it true that some came without ABS, as that would be ideal.

Supposedly, it's the same width as the T100's.

So far I've had no issues nor have I heard of any issues with the housing from the other SAC'd tundras or any other tundra for that matter. Only issue I had was snapping a driver side axle shaft.

ABS, yes.

Ultimately, I'd want the rear end from the 2nd gen tundra with the 10.5" ring gear.

Never had any experiance with T100s. My rear has held up well. I have a 350 with torq cam and was beating on it pretty hard. :) Thought I was going to break for sure but didnt. I believe I have a non-abs. Its my understanding that the Tundra rear is effectively a 3/4 ton.

x2

I will hitup the yards for a spare... I dont even want to know how much an OEM rear axle is :crybaby:
