After hearing tales of hundreds of miles of unpaved public roads, I decided to go exploring in the NJ pine barrens. Here is my assessment:

*Millions of weird looking pine trees
*Hundreds of miles of unpaved public roads
*A few sand pits
*General spookyness

Some of the trails are substantially washed out and mud worthy, others are just endless fire roads. Trial and error, but entertaining, and great scenery.

Definitely worth a trip if you've never been.

looks like a ton of fun!! do you by chance have more pics to post up?

Here's a few more.

Exit 52 on the garden state parkway. All these trails are offshoots of route 679

thats cool, is that rail road still used???

I'm pretty certain its no longer in use, but I'd hate to be on it and find out otherwise
