I was digging around in the cargo area behind the plastic panels yesterday. I noticed that in the rearmost part of both rear fenders, there is a clear tube (pencil-sized, like would be used for washer fluid) that enters the cabin on each fender through a grommet. These are distinct from the tube that runs to the rear washer nozzle, and they both are just open on the end- not connected really to anything once they enter the fender from under truck. Judging by the way they are integrated into the wiring harness as they exit through the grommet, I am assuming they are not PO handiwork.

What are these tubes?

(PS - I'm not talking about the big black tubes that appear to be drains)

breather tube for the diff locks?

no...hold on. Now I'm not sure.
Which one of these tubes (on this page)?

err WTF, I have seen the clear tube with the white wye, in my cruser thought it was the actuator breather, but that page says the black one is the actuator breather witch I have not seen in my cruiser, I problay just have not seen it, it is a lot darker in that hole on a black truck

so what is the clear tube? it just terminates at that wye open to the air

I'm with you RavenTai -- I thought the clear one was the breather until I took a closer look at the pics. George is definitely pointing at the darker tube. This jives with his other pics showing a black tube as the diff lock braether tube.

Just went out and took another look. Yep, George's photos are absolutely correct - the tiny black tube is the breather. It's so small and so stiff that it could easily be confused with the other wires that it runs with.

Still, the mystery of the clear tubes continues. I did a cursory examination of the underside of the truck, and I do not see anyplace where the clear tube exits the wiring loom as it passes from one side of the truck to the other. So, perhaps the clear tube on the driver's side (with the Y-connector and the short black rubber extension) is continuous with the clear tube in the passenger fender....

Were there any options that would have required washer fluid to go to both sides of the rear of the truck (ie, with barn doors or something) in a different market? I'm guessing these tubes might be like the CDL wiring - not used in this market but Toyota included it anyway...
