Whoa, just checked the website. It doesn't sound too crazy, but the "solo effort" seems a bit much. If you get hurt, there's no help until your own back up arrives. Hmmm.
If you want to see something really outrageous, check out Ruta de los Conquistadores in Costa Rica. The course will eat you alive, and usually, a local wins.
I nearly entered 8 years ago, but wife/kids/career got in the way. Well, then there's the near death thing, too.

Looks like a fun (if long) gravel race.
Up here in MN we have a bunch of them but the longest is the Royal 162. It's two weeks before the Dirty K200 so you could use it as a warm up event!

Not nearly as "solo" as it seems. There's a lot of support out there from the other riders. The biggest thing about being solo is no support vehicles on the route itself, only at the 3 checkpoints. For me it isn't so much a race as it is a ride, albeit a long one. I'd say less than 20 are actually in it to win.
