Whether it the new meds, or I'm an idiot...but I went to my first oil change on my new to me truck. I did a bunch on my last one. I ended up getting the wrong filter! I got a M1-201 instead of 209...truck is empty of oil and it's the 4th...wife is out with the kids. I'm sending her to see if Orielly's is open...if not hopefully Walmart has a filter that doesn't suck.

Seriously...I can screw up an oil change! :)

So what are you guys running other than Mobile filters...namely whatever Walmart has...just in case.

Oh yeah...it took me about 10 minutes of trying to thread the new filter on before double checking to make sure it's the right filter.

I'm running a PureOne oil filter and Rotella T6 5W-40 with 5,000 mile oil changes.
For grease I use Green Grease, it is a full synthetic farm implement grease suitable for full water immersion, high heat, extreme cold and high dust conditions.
The only place I can find it anymore is on Amazon. But I swear by that stuff.
Same with the oil.

Thanks guys. They had the 209. But I'm short on oil according to the dip stick. Put in 6 quarts. Have another two coming from the wife....again.

Solid work.
I've been there. I've lost count of the greasy emergency trips to the hardware/auto store, complete with the immediate turn around and return after seeing that I picked up the wrong part, leaving the Cruiser up on jack stands and in various states of dissasembly.
Take a breath, thank the wife, and crack a cool beverage of your choice.

Happy Independence Day.

7.6qts. The nice thing about Rotella it only comes in gallon jugs, so I add two jugs and done.

They had both the filter and extra oil. For some reason I was thinking 6 quarts was right but 7 did it perfect. The good thing is that I will probably screw this up again in 10k miles when do I the next change!

BTW...frosty beverage in hand!

I could never remember the filter size, so I buy in bulk when I can find filter on sale. This way I should always have the correct size for comparison in case I bought the wrong size. If I am down to my last filter, I keep the box so I know for a fact what size worked last time. I been using PureOne or Mobil 1.

You go 10k? What oil do you use? You didn't say in your original post.

Mobile 1 extended performance. This is my first change with this truck, so I might do it sooner.

I just did my 1st oil change on the 100 series, went w/ Mobil 1 and used the bigger filter M1-209. Pretty sure you can use the M1-102 or HP1002.
