So I got my truck a few days ago, the boots on the CV's are toast. But im having trouble getting the piece that contains the brake disc and what not away from the lower control arms. We are stuck at this point on both sides, the upper control arms are disconnected from said piece. We have tried using a gear puller with out any result. Any suggestions, or tips?

Thanks

No, the shock is attached to the control arm. We are separating the piece I referenced in my original post, away from the control arms.

The axle joint will come out of the differiential at this point. Use a pry bar to back it out. Once it's out lower the end from obstructions and then pull it out of the wheel hub. Goes back in the same way. Hang the calipher from the upper control arm or upper shock mount with a piece of coat hanger to get it out your way. Will want to turn wheels some to get a good angle. You can do this without seperating the steering joint and lower ball joint. Did both of mine and the second one was a breeze.
See pfran above. The directions are great except, with the steering joint connected, the end in the diff comes out first and goes in last as I found out. As the instructins say, have plenty of rags because it's going to be a mess cleaning out what's left of the old grease.

Take it slow and you will be proud of what you accomplished. You will look back and wonder why you got frustrated.
