Where do you guys what to go?

Its time to plan some trips for this year, we need a good mix of easy runs/ more challenging runs and some hard core stuff too!

I think More than once a month was too much last year, Lets try and get some good runs together, and get some good participation on each run!

We need a couple ideas ASAP for snow runs for February / March, Any Ideas??

Last year we had a committee that met one night and planned everything out, so let me know if your interested or attend the next meeting!

At the risk of sounding lame, what about Great Sand Dunes National Park? I saw a few trails around and about that area with what seems like a decent mix for everybody (including my stocker self). Its also not too high in elevation so I wouldnt think think weather would prevent going.

Where you thinking for a winter run? or later this summer?

I was down there this weekend, Lots of snow near Mt. Blanca! not sure about the other trails in the area, but i heard the Blanca Trail is pretty sweet, and easier / Less Scary compared to past years! i would be Game for a camp out down that way in the summer!

Anyone else have ideas of trails they want to run???

Obviously we will plan some trips to the usual Places,
Eagle Rock
Chinaman's
Metberry (Now that we have it back), Possibly the other Gultches if they open

Other ideas
maybe a Rampart Range Trip
A Trip Scheduled with Rising Sun - See there schedule here Rising Sun Member Forums - Calendar

Id like to run Holy Cross, (did not get to do that one last year)
Blanca, Camp out run? (ive heard its a bit easier than before)
We need ideas guys!

There are alot of good runs west of Denver that some of us may not have explored!

Also, The Buena Vista Trip, Is that something we want to do again for this year? Same Dates?

I am not familiar with the trails so I won’t be able to recommend any but I am interested in what the next one is?

as of now, we have nothing Planned, im sure we will plan something at the next meeting!

if you cant wait, put up a new post, maybe someone would want to do an impromptu trip sometime soon..

It's a long ride, but I'd like to take long weekend out in the Ouray area this summer.

I am planning a vacation from June 28 to July 6 and was planning on heading to the Ouray area for part of that time so a trip in that direction during those days fits my plans.

We really enjoy the July 4th parade in Buena Vista so a trip in that area over the July 4th weekend would also fit my plans.

I agree with going to ouray this summer, there are alot of good areas around there. A friend and I spent a year camping out above yankee boy basin up there. Lots of trails all the way to durango.

Event on January 18

I just got back from a 50 mile ride on my ATV. We rode on 717 and some FS roads North of Divide. We had a blast! We scoped out a sledding hill and decide January 19 would be a good time to plan a sledding party. The area is about 1/2 mile west of the trail head parking area at the start of FS 357. The snow is about a foot deep on the trail with a few areas with less snow and a few with more. ATV's have been on the trails and roads but not many 4x4's. The conditions seem to be just right to make the normal FS roads entertaining for 4x4's without making it too big a chore to travel. We had 4 ATV's and had to winch two with stock tires in only a couple of spots (ATV's can handle up to a foot of snow before getting high centered).

Anyway, anyone interested in a having fun in the snow on January 19? A little loop around FS 357 and then a sledding party? We are thinking of a fire to keep everyone warm, a couple of small grills for cooking hot dogs and hamburgers for a hot meal and of course hot chocolate.

Here is a picture from 357C. I was by my self on the trail so I didn't want to get buried in the snow so I only went about 1/3 of a mile down 357C. The sledding area is at the end of 357C so I guess its more like 1 1/2 miles from the trail head.

This sounds like a GREAT idea! Unfortunately, the 19th probably won't work for me - but still a good idea.

Thanks to all who contributed trip ideas and attended the planning meeting at Village Inn. We drafted a trip schedule and will present it at the next club meeting. The schedule has a wide variety of trips and there should be something for everyone.

I'm waiting for a call back from the USFS office in Westcliff with the date for Brighten the Sangres. Trevor, I'll get that date to you for inclusion in the schedule.

Vic
