Anyone have experience with this app? It is a higher priced app @ $20 but still a deal compared to even bare bones GPS unit. At least that is one less gadget to have to pack around and keep charged.

Not sure anyone is running this but any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Link?

I found an app in the iPhone store "AllSport GPS" by Trimble for $4.99. Typically, Trimble produces professional/commercial grade GPS receivers and computers which are more accurate, costly, and complicated than off-the-shelf solutions such as Garmin, TomTom, etc.

I'm referring specifically to the Blackberry App store version -

I use all Trimble products in my real job, probably gonna go ahead and download it. I've spent $20 on worse things before, like last night's round of beers...

Beer > GPS

I use Trimble products all the time (GIS/GPS Consultant). They make good stuff - please let me know how this app works.

Is there a link online to the app where I can read about it?

Update -

So there is a new version of the blackberry app and it is much improved from the original. Haven't used it much but it is much more user friendly than the old app. The old version would run out of memory when tracking a long route - vehicle trip rather than on foot or bike. I tried to review my snowmobile trips and there were too many waypoints logged.

Maps need to be downloaded when in cell coverage, then they use only the device GPS when out in the boonies. I had trouble following routes created online in the trimbleoutdoors.com site on the old version so we'll see how the new one works out.

It is much improved over the first version but still pretty limited in features. It is primarily aimed at casual users with trip sharing and photo tagging type activities. I haven't tracked any long routes to see if the waypoints track better but I think they might.

Probably worth the money and it is nice to get the topo maps to look at if nothing else. I'm not a very good guinea pig i guess

People still use BBs? Anyways, I've read mixed reviews about this app. Trimble makes good pro equip (e.g. $9000 decimeter accuracy handhelds) but this app should not necessarily be associated with the Trimble name.

It's ben a year or so since I had a BB. I now use an iPhone 4 and have installed Navigon ($40-60) Along with ArcGis iOS and GeoPDF and think it's a better option for any kind of GPS application. Trimble software is available for the iPhone. I'm glad you are having good experiences with the BB version.

With a quick glance I didn't see anything listed for the iPhone (AT&T) but I do see in the iPhone App Store several Trimble Apps.

"AllSport GPS LE" seems to be geared more towards hiking, biking, running etc.
"Backpacker GPS Trails" seems to fit the bill a little bit more. I'm downloading the free version to give it a whirl. I already have Gaia GPS and MotionX GPS that work fairly well. Maybe this one is better? :grinpimp:

I downloaded it through the BlackBerry AppWorld - might not meet Jobs' criteria or maybe he wanted to big of a cut and it isn't on iphone. :meh:

I wish there was a Trimble app that would interface with our tractor guidance GPS hardware, that would be handy for me. Not ready to carry a laptop in the work truck just yet and I don't see my buying an iphone anytime soon.

Still not convinced that I am really being "left out" by not owning one but I'm glad everyone likes them enough to comment on how s***ty my BB is at every opportunity. Maybe there is some sort of subliminal subjugation frequency aimed at the iphone users brain matter that causes one to become an Apple cheerleader upon iphone purchase

(These comments aren't really aimed at you guys - just a general rant about what I hear every time I say "BlackBerry") - sorry for sand in vag
