On the way back from class today I noticed a slight shutter when I came to almost a complete stop and then tried to accelerate again, as if there was a pause between my throttle input and forward motion. Did not think much of it. Got in the LC four hours later and into reverse, massive shutter as if the trans was grabbing to go somewhere, and the shutter only went away after the pause was over from throttle input with a thud as I moved forward. Searched the forum for similar issues to find some related to reverse only and others with PB, but criteria do not exactly fit. This is F/R, and became more and more significant within three minutes as I reversed back into the lot gently.

Thoughts? Torque converter? Cheap? Bananas?

The soonest the best local shop can inspect her is tomorrow. Hopped in today to make sure problem is there and of course.....

I allowed five min of idle time for engine to warm up, didn't notice the jolting. Put it in reverse, and no more jolts. Reversed back 100ft and didn't notice anything. Drive, same thing. I will drive it around the block tonight unless someone screams Bloody Mary.
Thoughts? Valving? Bands? Fluid was a good color and I am only able to read the cold level temp but seems to be there.

Safe to drive to auto place if symptoms do not show face?

Ryan.

How is your fluid level? Not sure what you mean when you say "can only read the cold level.... seems to be there" . Does the level fall between the two upper indents in the dipstick when hot with the engine idling (in park)?

Fluids are all good. So it was drivable this morning and took it in. When the shop drove it, of course it drove normally. Just slight hints of a hesitation. This morning it was shuttering again, then went away as I pulled out of the parking lot. Any way this is a random misfire that gets better and worse randomly?

Sorry to resurrect, any follow up on this? I've just started seeing the same slipping symptoms when cold after shifting into drive. Once things warm up she drives normally.

Are you sure it's the transmission slipping? Is it a shudder or a slight hesitation? If the truck is cold and it's more of a slight hesitation from idle, then it may be a coil pack. That's usually a first sign of coil pack failure. Do a search for coil pack failure.

It's not really a hesitation. More like it's only seeing 20% of the power and slamming into gear again. I see the rpm's increase as it slips.

I had the same issue with the A442F in my 100 series, transmission was overheated and started to slip in reverse and 3rd.
Had it replaced with a used transmission and that used to slip in all gears after the oil and filter were changed. So I replaced that one with another used transmission and now it works like a dream.
It's the clutch packs. Had all the same symptoms, it's gonna get worse with time.

Bardiya, where did you get your transmission fixed and from where did you find the used transmission?
