Some background. I have a 100 4.2TD with the A442 4 speed transmission. While driving one day I just lost all drive, on inspection transmission shop found clutch material in the filter. Transmission was overhauled, but now on start up there is a new high pitch whining sound but only when in neutral or park. When put into drive it disappears and while driving no noise. When I put it into reverse it dissappears, but while reversing it starts whining again. I also notice that when I try to put it into lowrange (while engine is idling and in neutral) there is now a grinding noise, like the gears doesn't want to mesh and then eventually it engages.
The transmission shop has taken the gearbox out several times, to replace the TC, pump, etc. but the noise is still there. They have overhauled 100's of these boxes but are now running out of ideas on what it can be.
Ay suggestions?
