I travel to Nevada for work often and on the way I found this transmission for a '94 80 series with less than 100k miles with transfer case for less than $500. Some of the hoses/dipstick lines are bent up but I figure the transmission shop can swap my current transmission parts. Also, it doesn't come with a torque converter. Would this be worth the risk, the yard will give a 30 day warranty for a full refund. Any input is much appreciated... Thanks!

I wouldn't...it'll take 30 days for your shop to add parts and install...and what...it doesn't work, who'se paying to take it out and replace?
It's been outside in the weather and then why is it there in the first place?

It came from a wrecked 80 series with 97k miles and it's been there for a couple of years so I got them down to less than $200 now. Everything turns, nothing is locked up. My transmission looks jacked, the previous owner covered it in epoxy so I am assuming that the case is cracked. I am just looking for transmission options, anyone go with a remanufactured trans from certifiedtransmissions.com or Carmonkeys.com, etc.? I want to restore this truck as a daily driver, the motor was replaced and only has 32k miles but the transmission leaks and it shuts down from overheating because I think they filled it to the brim with fluid because it has a major leak.

Come on, why would it take a transmission shop 30 days to swap parts and install. Whats wrong with buying that transmission if there giving a 30 day guarantee.

@109madrid Personally, for that price, I'd give it a go. Sounds like the OP's been burned in the past.
