I've had my FJ since Wednesday and I thought that the auto was an overdrive transmission? Yes?
At 70mph I am turning 2750 rpm. Now I'm wondering if the transmission is shifting into the overdrive gear? That seems high to me:confused:
Looked in my Owner's manual and cannot find the gearing specs for 5th gear.

Ed

EDIT: Using 3.72 for the differential, 2750rpm and 16" radius for the tires, that calculates to 70.4 mph, which leads me to believe the OD is not working.

I just found out why the D-4 gate is so wide. What a dumb****.

Just in case others need the information. This is for the AT transmission.

Gear--------Ratio
1st---------3.52
2nd---------2.04
3rd---------1.40
4th---------1.00
5th---------0.72
Reverse-----3.22

Thanks, where did you find that info?

i was gonna suggest making suyre in was in D and not 4, but i felt like that might come off condescending, i know its a mistake i made the first week i had it. :D stupid gated shifters.

hehe, common mistake w/ new owners & gated shifters. It's a good reminder tho!

if only they offered the 6sp with part time 2WD....

I'll sell you my part-time transfer case from my AT that I removed with 8k miles on it. :) Then you can have a 6-speed with part-time 4WD. The other option is to install an Inchworm lefty transfer case.
