So I have a 91 hiace 5 speed. Yesterday I was driving with 5 people up a big hill and it barely made it up. When I got to the top I could smell burning oil (or something burning). It has smelled like this in the past sometimes when struggling to make it up a big hill.

This time however, after I got to the top I noticed the engine was revving but not picking up speed. I bought this van to flip and am really hoping this is it a major issue. I got the van home, slowly, but it now will rev up in first and barely go anywhere. Really hoping this isn’t a tranny or clutch issue. Is there anything else this could be?

Someone told me to try to check the transmission fluid but I cannot for anything figure out where to check the fluid on this engine. Looked everywhere. Hoping I’m not SOL.
