I was driving over Mt. Hood today and I approached a semi truck. I slowed down to about 50 mph then I gunned it but I noticed a clunk/hard shift and not the normal sling shot effect or the smooth transmission shift. However after the clunk the engine ran smooth. There was no Check Engine Light or any shudder just a big clunk. I have a automatic. Has anybody experienced this?

Ive noticed a hard downshift on the go after a brief stop like at a stop sign. Not excessivly hard just a slight bump. This has only happen 2-3 times in 30k miles.

could be a lose yoke
That's how i could tell how loose my drive shaft spacer bolts were ( just got the shaft lengthened so the spacer is history). If something is loose you can aggressively roll on and off the gas and it will repeat it self, a one time thing could be aliens, or ..
