Quick question. We went camping/hunting over labor day. Moved my pickup this weekend and noticed a spot of oil where it had been sitting since we got home. Looked underneath and the front axle output of the transfer was nice and wet. The rear output had started dripping a little last year. Is there a reason this may be happening, or are the seals just shot. Truck has 207K miles, so maybe they are just worn out. I did use 4wd over the holiday weekend, had not used it since June briefly and the end of winter before that.
On a side note, I need to do the front brakes and wheel bearings. It there any special way to positively check the ball joints. I have shook it and such and really see no play. However, I have pretty complete records on this truck, I got it at 118,000 miles and I have no indication that the ball joints were done prior to that, so are they ticking timebombs, or can OEM joints last 207,000 miles and still be fine.
To add to that, the clutch is original too, the throwout used to squeal a bit, but does not anymore, is that ready to pop too, or will it last a bit longer. It has felt fine, so I'm just waiting for it to start slipping, but I also don't want to ruin the flywheel.
My opps, this is a 96 T100
