Transfer Case Grind When Shifting

I have a 2006 Land Cruiser with 117,000 on it. Owned it since it was new. I noticed tonight when I shifted my transfer case, while transmission was in neutral, from high to low or high to low range that it makes a gear grinding sounds as I push it into either range. It doesn't matter how long the transfer case sits in neutral gear range, it grinds going into either high or low range. I move it from high to low and back again a few times a month usually and do not recall it ever making this type of noise.

Looking for some guidance and suggestions from other 100 series owners.

Mine does the same but shifts fine in park. I just assumed it was normal.

Mine does too. It's a 2000 with 192000. Always been that way. I just "nudge" it into "H" or "L"

Try pulling down into LO a little faster.
