Transfer Case bearings

Just curious if anyone has ever had transfer case issues? Last week towing my wave runner home, this weird high pitched whine started at 40 mph, then changed pitch at 60. Put it on the hoist, and much to my horror, found the rear driveshaft bouncing up and down. Pinpoint to rear transfer case output bearing. Lots of slop.

Got a brand new transfer case coming anyways. Who knows what the hell let go in there?

I've done a couple of transfer case rebuilds on 100s for rear output bearing issues. All of the ones I've seen had had the rear drive shaft slip joint over packed with grease causing it to hydro lock and pound on the bearings.
