I am stationed over seas in england and currently building a lj70 into a truggy. I have also sourced a 4.0 diesel motor. I am pretty sure it is a H motor. But no clue what the 5speed manual behind it is, or the tcase. 5speed is a top shift, and the tcase is side shift, with a spot that I think is for mounting a pto.
Now I am tossing a set of 404 mog axles under this beast, front axle is left hand drop.....
I have searched and searched; here, pirate4x4, ihatemud, google. Nothing... Need some help.
What is my best plan of attack here. I can pay to have the diff flipped, but itll cost 1600. So thats my price limit for a strong than toyota solution. Im not so head strong that I wont use another brand tcase, but I can not figure out what path to take here.
Thanks for the help!

Switchin t cases sounds like the easiest to me. And cheaper.

but to which t-case? Most build threads i find doesnt make it clear. for the most part seem like they are using aftermarket modded axles, i just happen to be able to use them straight off a unimog.
i am new to alot of this, but i have done alot of reading and have searched. just cant seem to get the answers.....

www.northwestfab.com black box to ford 205, twin sticked and bomb proof, oh and the black box gives yea 2.72 to one and is clockable for a flat belly. and i bleive 7 inches long. and under 2 g.

I thought this it's the best way .. or just maybe get a mog t-case and pay for adapter to the H55F that you found ( BTW I believe that you have a 2H engine there )

If you have easy access to the mog t case just do that sounds easy and mog stuff is sweet. With the axles alone you won't really need lower t case gearing IMHO. Oh and post some picks I love rigs with mog axles.

thanks for all the help, looks like we are going to flip the front axle. i trust the toyota t-case, and its been done before.
from what i have seen and learned, mog cases arent like your normal case. nothing seems normal on them. im pretty sure it would be huge heavy and pita to use. and saying i like to jump my rigs, lol probably wouldn't do me so good.
i do need to see what can be done to my tcase to help gearing alittle. the mogs are already really low, and noone makes gears for them.

Easy solved by bigger tires .. :grinpimp:

well im hopping on 40in tires but alittle more help in gears wouldnt hurt either. more so if the gears are stronger than stock. dont think i need it but extra beef anywhere i can put it it good in my book.

Set up a double t case for the gears your lookin for.

Any pics?

Does the 404's have the pinion conversions done on them yet? If no, maybe grab the Tcase from the mog and maybe try some torsion tube stuff to be different??

ill post a link later this week with pics for you guys. but its just long weekends of bodywork right now. rust and crazy ideas have turned this into a truggy right quick.
i also have photos of the two tcases and the deisel 4.0 i am going to use. wish i could just fit the tcase upside down and be done with it but oh well.
the 404s dont have the pinion convo on them yet but mog cases arent light and ehhh it would be more work with alot of weight gain.

heres the link to my build.....working only weekends so its alittle slow

Interesting to see more detailed pics of this exhaust manifold .. and those tranny and t-case looks like H55F and BF1A to me ..

thanks for the help. looks like i might be going with a stak case, but only adapters they make are for tacomas and tundras, gotta do some more reading and make some phone calls.
