Situation: I was backing up a steep hill in the 80. Load consisted of three adults, two kids with 3/4 tank of fuel. I was in the high side of the t-case. RPMs were low, I'd guess between 1000 and 1500, enough to move the vehicle, when a series of pops happened. I did not notice if the RPMs changed during the popping. Popping came from the Trans / T-Case area. I put the T-Case into low and continues to back up the hill with no issues.

Thoughts and how to fix would be greatly appreciated.

Don't drive over bubble wrap anymore.

Any wheel slip during or where there front wheels turned

Viscous Coupling?

No wheels slipping at all. We were on concrete. Slight turn to passenger while backing up. Maybe 1/4 turn at the most.
Viscous Coupling?
That was my first thought also. I'd like to know more before I tear into a T-case rebuild.

Most just leave VC alone when fails I think and install CDL switch.

I popped off the cover where the CDL switch goes and didn't see or feel a plug to connect it. It may have fallen back or be tucked away someplace in the general area. How does one take apart that area? I need to open it up to replace the radio anyway.

search threads for wiring diagram too. there is a link from one of the threads to a PDF of EWD. It will come in handy for identifying the connector.

That looks easy. Now to find a cool button. And a head unit.
