Trans fill

How do i check and or fill my transmission in my 1987 FJ60,

Any help would be great.

Open the fill plug. Stick your finger in the hole. If it comes out dry, add gear oil until it runs out the hole.

(And my wife wonders why I spend so much time in the garage)

Theres a filler plug on the side of the transmission body. It's on the drivers side for US (left hand drive) vehicles. It's about 1/2 way up the side of the transmission. To check the level, unscrew the plug. The oil level should be within 1/8 inch of the filler plug hole--if oil doesn't spill out, and if you can't feel the oil when you stick your little finger in there, then you probably need to add oil. You fill through the same hole.

you may want to take the skidplate off to do this........makes it much, much easier
