I have a 89 fj62 with 219k miles on it and love the thing. Problem is the tranny won't engage until the vehicle warms up which takes approx. 3-5 minutes. Also, when trying to pass or going up a hill, the tranny won't shift down. Any thoughts or suggestions? By the way, I am new to the site and must say it is awesome thus far like alot of your rigs.

hey, Most of the time when I see that the trans needs rebuilt due to either a bad pump, weak or worn down clutches or a valve prob, But just for fun you could try draining the oil, cleaning/replacing the filter and adding some sea foam to the fresh oil. You can get it at almost any parts store or try trans magic. It might help for a while. Let me know what you find out. See ya
