tranny oil leak?

Hey all, I am new to the LC world, I just picked up a 96 80 with 102k from a used car lot in Fremont Ca. From all the paper work that I have,the truck has been maintained by a Toyota dealership since new. Just today i was driving up a very steep hill that goes on for about 4-5 miles. When I got out of the truck i could smell tranny fluid. So, I checked under the truck and saw just a bead of fluid on the front axel. When I checked the fluid level it was fine, as was the motor oil. My question is, do I have a leak or is there some over flow check vaulve? last question, is there a Landcruiser mechanic in the Oakland/Berkeley area Nor Cal?

If there is ATF on the axle then you need to check for leaks from the tranny cooler and it's plumbing but I'll bet it's from the power steering pump. Mine has a slow leak from the back of it. Good luck, Greg.
