Tranny funny - any idea why?

I’ve noticed over the last few months that my 95 LC tranny is reluctant -;p- to drop into overdrive until some 5 miles of driving has lapsed. From thereon, the tranny shifts into overdrive when expected. All shifting below overdrive works from the get go.

This occurs when the truck has been sitting for a while, at least a few hours and certainly anytime it sits overnight.

Anyone encountered this? If so, what did you do to remedy it?

Tranny hasn't fully warmed up - they have an ideal operating temp just like engines do.

I will elaborate a bit.

The transmission is inhibited from shifting into overdrive untill the engine coolant reaches aproximately 131 degrees F.
