Hello. My wife has a 94 4Runner that has the towing pkg. With that package, there is two tranny coolers: one in the radiator and on that is on the inside of the passenger side frame rail and it attaches to the back of the T/C. Well, a rock decided it wanted to live in the cooler that is attached to the frame...

I just want to plug the t/c where the lines come out of or something, but Toyota tells me that there is no part for that. Does anybody know what that part number is for the plug or has anybody found a good solution to take car of this. TIA

If I understand you correctly, you want to bypass the external tranny cooler.

Personally, if it were me, I wouldn't do this. Heat is the enemy of automatic trannies, I'd do everything possible to keep it cool. Use this opportunity to upgrade the cooler, try to find an aftermarket one that is even bigger.

Ah, OK. Yeah, it is in kinda a vulnerable location.

I installed an aftermarket one on my FJ62 a couple of years ago, I just cut into the factory hoses and mounted it in front, right behind the grille. Of course, there was tons of room and no condensor coil fan in the way either, like your truck will have.

But it did make a huge difference in the tranny fluid temps.

Every automatic 4-Runner I have seen has this cooler.... no bypass exists, as far as I know. It cools the TC only. You should be able to source one cheap and place it somewhere a little more friendly.
