Trailing Arm Skid Plates

Always looking to protect my investment, I found that TLC makes trailing arm skid plates. Anybody have any feelings on these? How necessary are they? They're cheap enough, but do I really need them? Thanks.
 
Friends with 2nd gen 4Runners have beat the crap out of their mounts so I would say you need them if you plan to do any serious rock crawling. I noticed how vulnerable on my wife's FJ last weekend - they need some help.

yeah, they are one of the thinks that get bashed up in the rocks. HD control arms might be a good upgrade also.
