I am trying to now wire a trailer and cannot figure it out. A very simple trailer, brake lights and the same lights then flash for the turn signals. The trailer connector is just the 4 plug type. The truck did not come with a hitch, so am not sure if I have the proper wiring already, and have no idea where to start. Searched, but could not find what I needed. Passenger side rear has a bunch of wires with one white box that unsnaps and it looks like connectors, but don't really know what they are for. I am sure someone has a quick and easy answer that I have not been able to find yet. Thanks.

dtrout,
Did you see the old post from Jukelmon (I think) about the trailer connector recall? I need to do the same along with an e-brake controller...I think this is one item I am going to have installed by someone that knows...

This has been covered before, try and search for some more answers.
But if you already have a 4 wire flat installed it’s probably correct. Just try you trailer on it and see what works.
The white box has me wondering though. The Toyota converter box was black. And every converter box I’ve seen has been non serviceable.

i found my black wiring box for my trailer hitch behind the driverside tail light in the fender. if you remove the tail light look by the wheel well and you should locate the black box and follow the wiring!

Not specific on my part. The 4 pronged piece extends off the trailer not the cruiser. The white piece I am referring to is tied in with a large bundle of wires but has this one piece covered, which I uncovered, but will not accept the trailer connector and have no idea what it does. Will try the 800 number from a previous post.

Yes, the new style converter is behind the taillight.

That plug might be where the factory converter hooks into the wiring. You will need to have a converter box installed into your Cruiser.
