Trailer Tail Light Converter Wiring?

Thanks for the replies. I’m pretty convinced that I have to have the powered tail light converter and the one I have will not work.

@TallCityCruzer i followed your wiring diagram and it still netted the same result. Tail and brakes but no blinkers. I’ll be ordering a powered converter tonight. Unfortunately no store in town has one in stock so the trailer will be staying put for this trip.

@Robert Franzke thanks for that wiring diagram. I confirmed that I did have the wires in connected correctly.

Cut the “trailer” side of the wiring off your old u-haul converter box thing. Toss the converter with “vehicle” side wiring in the trash.

Connect the trailer harness directly to your trucks wiring matching the wires to the correct color - you had this down from the sound of it....basically wire the thing up minus the box.

You definitely want an independently powered converter and do verify the color codes. I didn’t mention before but I’m sure you realized that you can only get the left signal (green/ black stripe) from the drivers side tail light plug and the right signal (Green/ yellow stripe)from the passengers side tail light plug. The other two signals can be tapped into from either side. If you don’t have a 12v light probe, please get one to verify your terminations are making a good connection and you have good conductance. I hate splice terminals which is why I soldered but realize that the splice is easy for anyone to do especially if you don’t have the equipment.
