I am diving into my second phase of my trialer build this spring so I can have them done in time for this seasons wheeling.

I would love to see what you have set up for your trailer kitchens... crude to polished. I just want to gather ideas as I begin the next phase of my buildup.

I am planning on a rear sliding drawer unit with stove, sink, faucet, and storage, but I'd love to see what everyone is running.

The collective knowlege is always better than the idea's of any one person.

SO! Post 'em if you got 'em... especially comment on things you like or would change in your particular setup!

Thanks in advance!

Dre

You already know what mine looks like ;). A couple notes about the KK: They changed the layout of the pull-out right after we got ours. Not a deal breaker and in some ways I like our version better but something you might appreciate: Our sink is mounted to the inside of the slide-out. So you have to pull the slide out all the way to access the sink. They moved it to the outside of the pull out so that you only have to pull the slide out a little to access the sink. Their reasoning: Quicker/easier quick trail/road side hand washing when needed.

However I do like the sink inboard as mine is when I'm cooking/prepping food. With the open 'counter' on the outside I have alot more elbow room.

Also I really like the cubbies KK designed into their slide-out. One behind the sink for soap, knives, tongs, whatever. And the large compartment under the 'counter' next to the sink for pots, pans anything large you want to keep quick and handy.

I love our KK slide-out. They also incorporated a flip down height adjustable hoop/support when fully extended. Not needed unless I need to level it off. For whatever reason (then they would need some type of lock if you wanted to open it part way without the trailer being level) they didn't use ball bearing sliders for the kitchen slide-out: Just low friction UHMWPE or similar I'm guessing between the metal surfaces. And the flip out SS shelf that stores atop the whole slide-out: Slick and big-time useful!!!

FYI: The water pump and filter reside on the inner most cubby behind the sink. It sure is nice to just turn on the faucet and get flowing water!

Thanks!

Lets see a few pics of that sweet KK kitchen! :D

Oddly I don't have any good close-ups of my kitchen slide out. However I stole this photo of TucsonT4R's, which is identical to mine, from Exped Portal. Note the hinged long and narrow cubbie just behind the sink.

The slide out also has LED lighting underneath the slide out. At first I thought it wouldn't be useful but I do use it all the time for ambient/indirect light as needed. He doesn't have the slide-out fully extended...there is additional useable space to the immediate right of the sink for pump, filter, extra storage.

FYI: Here's Brad's complete thread over on EP: http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20712&page=7

There is another pic of the fold out shelf side of this slide out (Feb 2010, post #63). Note the nice integrated towel 'rack' on the end of the fold out shelf...super handy for a cook.

Very slick, thanks for sharing, nice touch to hard mount the propane bottles.

I appreciate it!

Drew I'm looking forward to the second part of your build. The first part was most enjoyable.

I don't know if you have read Andre's trailer build, but he nailed a bitchen slide out ala Kimberly Kamper style, without even knowing of the KK before hand. I know your trailer is a little different, but Andre was able to incorporate a pump, storage and sink all in a compact package.

Here's the link; Page 16, post 160 starts with the galley.

Great link! Thanks so much bro.

I just got my slides ordered and they should be here this week, I am excited to jump in and have the kitchen built before the snow thaws in the high country! :D

Thanks for the props. Pretty proud of it myself. It has been my 5 minutes of fame on the web for awhile now. It seems to pop up everytime someone starts a thread on kitchens, cooking, etc...

Well, lets bump you up to 15 minutes of fame...

post up a bunch of detail shots, it looks like you really thought through it!

Nope your not making that up, same guy. I sold the 80 and the Adventure Trailer's Chaser that I had and upgraded to a 100 and a used Kimberly (I couldn't help it after seeing Spresso's and Mall Crawler's). I did the upgrade for a lot of reasons, which I won't clutter up your thread with.

Let me know if you want this moved to your kitchen thread and I will delete it and move it.

First off, I think your going in the right direction with a modular slide out. A kitchen should be fast and easy. Pull up to camp for the night, slide out a drawer that is equipped with a sink, counter top and maybe even a recess for a stove to sit in and your that much ahead of the game. That's a big order to fill from a relatively small amount of real estate. I linked DieselCruiserheads's build because Andre used his space very well.

If I were having one built for me, I'd ask for the above features. I'd place the stove on the end (I can always extend the slide out further to wash). Either in a simple recessed area, or even on a slide that would allow you a little more flat surface behind the stove while its extended. Next to the stove would be a sink. I'd set the sink inboard to shorten the plumbing accessories.

I'd then take a piece of thin gauge sheet metal, bend some edges/corners on it for rigidity and make it the same width as the drawer slide. I'd hinge it to the top and have it open away from the sink/stove. Add some adjustable braces and viola you have a flat full length counter for meal prep and general counter top duties. Having these features incorporated into the slide saves your family time from setting up to be enjoying the out of doors.

When I had my Chaser, everything was packed away in hard cases, so every time you arrived, out came all the cases, unloaded, set up, use, repack, reload and off again. With the slide it's just more streamlined.

It's pretty much a repeat of what Dan has already said.

We all know you've got the skills, so get to work...

Since my KK is a little older than Dan's it's set up a tad different. Here is the kitchen/stove extended. Both the counter tops hinge out from the work areas. You could easily incorporate the sink/stove in the same slide and only sacrifice the pots/pan storage in the drawer. You can also see the silverware drawer on the drawer side and the cleanser door on top of the slide above the sink. You can also see the top red end of my water pump next to the faucet that pivots down out of the way. Also in view (Barely) is an exterior faucet that's covered in the canvas hood. It's a hand pump, so you can get water without extending the drawer slide.

The p.o. was a jeep guy. These are pics from the sale ad.

DUDE! Do you have any detailed pics of how eerything is attached to the trailer? I've always like d your design. Very practical and looks like it wouldn't be too tough to make.:bounce:

Thanks mate!

I think I am going with a single pull out that will house all the "kitchen" side of things. I will post up a sketch tonight.

My drawer slides came in, and they are SWEET! :D

Thanks to everyone for the imput, I have landed on a design... now it is time to build it! :D

Check out my build up thread for updates, link is in my signature.

So that folds down then it slides out too? Cool concept. You need to start a build thread and show you stuff off a bit :D
