This is the scheduled June trail ride for July. Meet at the Divide Philips 66 at 6:45 am. We leave as soon as we account for the the people that signed up (7:15). Next meetup is in Johnson village at Gunsmoke at 8:30.

Remember to bring a GMRS radio (we use channel 5-0), recovery gear.
 
Anyone know the requirements of this run? Thinking about joining with my 2004 4Runner. Got about 3” lift but the rest is pretty stock including the running boards.
 
I cannot accurately describe the condition of Hancock Pass because I have not run it in 25 years or more. I know someone in Buena Vista with a 99 Land Cruiser with a 1 or 2 inch lift and running boards and he says he runs it regularly.
 
Well looks like I’m on call that whole weekend so probably won’t make it.
 
We will be doing more high country trips this summer than are listed in the trail schedule. Hope you can join us for some of those.
 
I drove Tin Cup, Cumberland and Hancock Passes last year in September. Tin Cup was easily done in a stock 4Runner. Cumberland in anything on the road. Hancock had just had a contractor rebuild the water bars on the St. Elmo side and they were big. If the winter knocked them down you would be good. The rock garden would be challenging to a stock 4Runner, but you just have to pick your line. How attached are you to your running boards? You may not be so attached at the end of the trip. It will be a good excuse to get some sliders.

I have no attachment to running boards. I’m hoping to rip them off so I can justify sliders to my wife haha.
 
If I could run this and make it back to town by 7p then I’m down to go. I’ll be on call a the hospital night.
 
Now it is necessary to have an OHV permit to drive Hancock Pass.

And it has long been required on the (more difficult ) Old Tin Cup, FS Road 267.3D.


I'm planning to support CORE on Friday (19th) at Cottonwood Lake for the annual High Lonesome 100. I'll meet you guys on the Tin Cup trailhead. Also, be aware that we need to watch for updates on the water level at Mirror Lake (last week it was greater than 30 inches deep).

I’m hoping to make this one. I did see that Hancock pass is temporarily closed. I think due to slide? OnX had a report as of July 5th.

Here are my thoughts on this trip. It sounds like Hancock Pass and the road next to mirror Lake are both impassable. however, there are plenty of other roads and mines to see in the Saint Elmo and Hancock area such as Hancock Lake, Pomeroy Lake, grizzly Lake, Mary Murphy Mine, and others. Given that Tracy is going to be there anyway, my idea is that we could still meet Tracy in Saint Elmo and then start running these other roads that go to lakes and mines. And if we run out of things to do, we could run the Browns Canyon area trails on the way home that were on the schedule previously.
Thoughts?
 
And if it turns out that Hancock pass and the road next to mirror Lake have opened up, we can still run those trails.
 
I will not be able to attend this one after all. My Transmission went out and I have no offroad rigs that are drivable. We are going to take a quick trip to Devil's Tower and Mt Rushmore instead. Hope you all have tons of fun. Sorry I have had to miss everything as of late.
