Anyone seen/heard from anyone running this? Seems like an interesting way of divircing the outputs...

Dont know how long its been out just ran across it on their website...

Its pretty much a new product.

My personal opinion on it: Waste of money. I predict lots of exploded front outputs and front ring and pinions, especially on leaf sprung (no anti-wrap) front ends.

Then this adds to the "how much money should you put in a toy box?" debate. As it is, most of us who have built our cases to the point that we would/could/should be looking at disco's have more $ in our cases than an Atlas II and we are approaching an Atlas 4 speed.

x's 2 on what john said. If your to that point time to get rid of the toy stuff and get an atlas 4spd. You could probibly make it last on a light toy based buggy, but on all of our DD heavy ass pigs, i doubt it would last a season. Either the rear output or the front end would blow up. Whats crazy is that they are not even able to run a 30spline rear output if i understand it correctly.

I think you will likely blow front outputs, not rears. But hey they you can buy a chromoly front out.....Then probably blow the housings...

But who knows, maybe I am wrong....Maybe the cases are even stronger than i think. there really isn't a common weak point on them, and they seem to possess retard strength. But its hard to imagine, especially given the VIOLENT and unpredictable nature of a front burn!!

YEEEOOOOWWWW 900+250 for an ARB compressor to go with it!

I am pretty sure you can add it to your existing OBA...

and $900 for an ARB locker isnt bad and that is really what this is...minus spider gears and add a fancy housing. I dont think price is too far off point, as long as the strength is there.

OK so just to stir the pot...should I go duals with 4.7's in the rear case of save for an Atlas?

Wasn't necessarily going to get the disco at this time, plus my truck is big and heavy...I wanna see how they hold up first.

If you are putting duals and a lefty in your truck and you really want to do front digs, save up for an atlas. The gear driven toyota stuff is pretty strong, but on a heavy newer taco like yours with that bigger engine, you are going to blow stuff up and end up buying an atlas anyway, thus spending twice the money. To asnwer your question, lower gears always in the rear most case. If you are even kicking around the idea of an atlas, just save your pennies and buy one a year or so down the line instead of building a dual setup.

Atlas

BTW, you don't "need" 4.7's with a 4.0/auto!!! A pair of stock 2.28's would be perfect, simple, cheap, and easy to replace.

Unfortunately this only saves me the cost of the 4.7s which is only like $350 more once I am in them already...

And does this count as an actual tech thread on Windy City? OMG

It just dawned on me, dont you need cutting brakes do do true front and rear digs anyway? I dont know if cutting brakes is the right word, but able to control the front and rear brakes seperately? The parking brake im sure would break ASAP in double low.

For a true dig yes I believe so. But If the rear is disconnected, and you apply the brakes, the rear will still lock up, and you will overpower the front brakes with the driveline.

It happens. Better mini sources here than the mini board!

Most dig setups now control the rear wheels independently with a cutting break/line lock.
