stopped by the dealer the other day to see if there was a traction control switch for my 08 fj. After looking at the computer, it showed that there was a slot for tracion control next the diff lock. Top left. parts guy said that if there was wiring for it all you would need to do is buy the switch to be able to turn it off. got the part # and ordered it online and saved about 20.00. what I got was a Auto LSD switch. Plugged it in and nothing happened. Everything was there to make it work, and yet it did not. THe Auto LSD is used on the 2wd fj's is what I found out and the part # is for 2wd and 4wd and the owners manual said 2wd only? I know about the wire on the master cylinder, putting a swithch in, Toyota machanic said that that wire is for the fluid level indicator light. what i am wondering, is there a manual switch that is depressed when you put it into low range? when in low range all that traction stuff goes off. any thoughts?

Yes; on an auto-tranny 4WD FJC there are three shift sensors in the transfer case, one that registers when the transfer case is shifted into 4WD (high or low), one that registers when 4-Low is shifted, and one that is just a (transfer case) "neutral" indicator. The first one is used to switch VSC and Traction Control off, and to engage the ADD actuator to connect both front axle half shafts to the differential. The second one allows the factory rear electric diff locker to be used, and the third one just turns on an idiot light.

are these switches interior or exterior of the transfer case. Can you find them and fool them to turn off the traction control?

Exterior, but they're all up high near the top of the case and hard to reach with the transfer case installed. A little easier if you disassemble the center console and access them through the shifter hole.

Sure, you can just replace them with manual switches if you want. That's what I did, but for a different reason. I replaced the 4WD sensor (the first one mentioned in my post above) with a SPST switch and mounted the switch on my center console:
