This is just and FYI since the information was still in front of me. To order the manuals for the 1996 Land Cruiser I called "1-800-622-2033" which is the "Toyota Material Distribution Center" which is in California and open from 10am-8pm eastern time (subtract 3 hours for Pacific time)

The part numbers are as such:
RM451 (Drivetrain and Chassis)
WD245 (Electrical)
BR050 (Collision Repair Manual)
RM479 (Automatic Transmission Overhaul)

All of these manuals shipped overnight to Georgia cost me just a little over $180.

When you get them on the phone (usually not busy) tell them the model and the part numbers I show above. You will need a credit card to order, and the first quote you get will be for slow shipping (7 to 10 days) but they have other options. For me, overnight was 26 dollars.

They can and will look up manuals for you if you need to, but you can also look them up yourself on the Toyota.com website. It is in the same area as owner's manuals. If this is a repost...shoot me haha.:D

Do you need all 4 or are all the most common problems addressed the in the first one?

Hate to piss on the info parade here, but I'd venture to say you could of save a good little chuck of cash by getting them from C'Dan.

The first one is generally accepted as the one you need. The other three--for most people--are usually not necessary....

Unless you are like jklubens or landtank and decide to either rebuild or replace your tranny yourself....

Or, like kirk who needs the electrical diagrammatics to mate his tranny to his LT-1 and do all of the interesting connections/matings himself.

Otherwise, the first $80 goes a long way.

Maybe, but I wouldn't take it as a given. I thought manuals were one of the few things that didn't really have a mark-up, and that Dan sold for the same price as the distribution center.

We'll see,

Dan
Has told me to call the 800# for them .
I feel your getting a good deal from TMDC

Nope. Unless things have changed since I bought mine a couple years back. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the bill.

same here when I called about FJ62 manuals.

Ditto. CDan told me that buying from him would cost MORE, due to postage.

I think the first two - the standard FSM and the detailer wiring diagram book are the essentials. But I am not going to be rebuilding my own transmission, either.

Like said above, you don't NEED all of them. I just buy them all because I can. This isn't my daily driver so I can get pretty frisky with fixin what I want and taking my time on it.

The first one is a must, the second is a handy one to have. The last two are just about $20's combined...so...why wouldn't you?

IIRC she charged me 6.95 for the collision manual, and 14.95 for the tranny overhaul manual.

Like I said though, The price was managable and this is just an FYI. would be nice to sticky the phone number. I keep losing it and it took me a few hours of snooping to remember I saw it on the Toyota site in the first place.

Hmm... he must not like you guys as much. Anyways, don't say anything to him about it, I don't want you all to ruin this special discount I've got going with him. :flipoff2:

I just bought mine

I just bought mine. I have the money and some mods coming up so why not. I took the 7-10 days shipping and the first two manuals and it was about $140. That's the price of one manual from Spector. I don't plan on touching my transmission, and don't have the equipment for collision repair, so, I think the first two are all I need.
