I don't need (or want) a new remote key. I'd just like a separate key fob for the keyless entry. I have three non remote replacement keys that came with my purchase (2 masters and one valet) but no keyless entry. Is it possible to program a Taco or 4Runner key fob to control the keyless entry on my '99 LX? Has anyone tried this with any level of success? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I don't think it's possible to re-program a non-LC key fob. I wanted to do the same for my '99 LC bc I had several extra keys at the time, and was told my only option was to go through them for additional key-less remote keys. My dad who now owns that rig still uses those extra keys, but keeps old broken remote-key on the key chain for key-less entry and I think it activates the ignition.

Unfortunately that is what I figured. But I am a little surprised with how big of a PITA the remote keys are that no one has seemed to try it.

Are there any markings on the factory remote keys? I don't have an original so I can't just look. What about on the remote guts that people are changing out?

Thanks in advance...

No markings on the key or guts, I think Mr Toy has to look up vin/model/yr to reprogram a new key-less. I know it's pricey, but don't remember the cost.
